DiPratos pita and pimento cheese is the shit. I believe I could eat just the pita and be happy.

Drakes duck in. Worth the wait for them to fry your chicken in front of you.

    Cash is king there.

My go to spot when I'm working in Columbia is the Lunch Box. Sandwiches on the cheap.

Also, No Name Deli. The owner did me a solid one time, and I will always go back with the wife when we are around.

Kill zone and I eat PP at least once a week. Best Q in town. Their hush puppies will shut you up too.

I'm sorry you've been so deprived of good barbecue your whole life. PP is nothing but a boston butt cooked over gas. I know because I've asked and have been shown the cooker. Try Hites or Easy Go (s beltline) if you want real (smoked) barbeque. At least Docs has a good buffet and decent hash as I'm not partial to their sauce drenched meat.

Palmetto Pig is not laughable, but they are what they are, and they do not advertise to be otherwise. Anyone who knows pit-cooked barbecue knows they aren't the real deal.

My go-to's are Mack's and Drake's. Palmetto Pig is way over priced and their Q is not really Q in my book. I used to work for Doc's and though it is very good, I prefer my Q not sauced.

Been a LONG time since I've been to No Name Deli. That place was a staple for us when I worked downtown in '94.
I don't need my name in the marquee lights....

There was a BBQ place on the frontage road at I-26 and 378 near the hospital. Closed about 10 or so years ago but it was probably the best in Columbia (which technically isn't saying much).

No Name vinegar pasta salad is the dealio. Not sure what they put in their flavored tea but I could drink myself into a bad case of diabetes.

Jackie Hite ain't gone no where. He stops by and drops us off a 1/lb or 2 whenever the crappie are doing it. Good Friend of ours unless you know something we don't.
Still cooks the whole hog and serves it up on Friday's.

Rush's is good stuff, it's a good thing one isn't close to my office.

No Name is good but since my paycheck went to direct deposit I rarely have cash. I used get a rueben or a gyro once a week.

I've eaten there once and it wasn't by choice. He used to be our restaurants competition hence why I never ate or eat there.

Good, I'm going to have to float my fat ass over to Leesville next week then.

Never been to Hite's in West Columbia. Didn't know it existed.
