Hollywood’s Matthew McConaughey is sparking fury among animal rights activists, who say his side business — allowing people to hunt caged animals at his Texas ranch — is akin to abuse.

Mr. McConaughey, however, isn’t apologizing.



TMZ reported that the actor owns 22,000 acres and that the animals are free to roam. But animal rights activists say the deer hang by the feeding area and that makes them too-easy targets, TMZ said.

They have taken to social media to tout their outrage.

“WHAT A [EXPLETIVE] COWARD!” one wrote, TMZ reported.

And another: “We just lost all respect for you … This is NOT HUNTING … This is disgusting behavior for human beings.”

“NO MORE support for you Matthew in anything and everything you do,” another wrote, TMZ reported.

The actor’s nephew, Madison McConaughey, said the family’s also fielded death threats. But they’re not apologizing for the hunts.

“We’re proud of what we do,” he said, TMZ reported. “People are disgusted with us, but we’re disgusted with them.”

Meanwhile, a ranch manager told TMZ that, “No meat goes to waste after the hunts. It helps feed our families.”
