I have a hybrid, part hard and soft case. Doskil or something like that. Damn fine case especially the way I throw things around.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I have busted the end out of I dont know how many floating gun cases. I need one with a solid barrel piece myself.

Dry is relative. I dont care how careful you are, a gun case in a boat is going to get wet. Nothign is water proof. I would rather have something porous, (but floats) that will dry easily.

I havent found either product yet though.

I'm currently using two cases. I got a Drake floating case that I use with the M1. If I'm taking a sentimental gun I use a mud case and then put it inside the Drake case.

I've busted the end out of a number of floating cases as well. I've alse tried them all...Avery, FA, Drake, etc.. and they all are crap with no protection for the barrel end. The best one was a browning duck commander case. It had a leather patch on the barrel end to prevent the barrel from busting through. Unfortunately it fell victim to our puppy many years ago. I currently have a cabelas brand and it's by far better than all the popular brands sold today but not as good as the old Browning case. If I'm not duck huntingn my guns are in a breakdown case or LLBean waxed canvas....

I believe mine is the final approach in this link. That extra padding and pocket are great. This case also drys within hours.

I guess I will have to go and look at some in person. The way I hunt, I am hard on my gun. I hate a gun sling so transporting my gun I leave it in the case till ready to shoot. A gun box would do minimal good for me. Most of the them we hunt we are hiking through mud, using a kayak or pirogue. Seems like everyday my case is soaking wet outside and in, plus covered in mid.

I have a Cabela's floating case that I've had for more than 15 years. It is still in good shape, and I tend to be pretty rough on things. It is not waterproof, but it will float a 3 1/2 inch BPS (I know from experience). This one is not exactly like the one I have, but it might be worth a shot. Mine has a round rubber piece on the end of it.
