It is all up in my young pines. Some places it is choking out the pines even though we site prepped with herbicide and a preemergent.
Any way to get rid of this crap?

Fire?
Conservation means the wise use of the earth and its resources for the lasting good of men. -Gifford Pinchot
The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it. -Thomas Jefferson
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
I had about 20 acres of it in two large patches.
I did a total kill herbicide application in 2006.
Burned it in 2007.
Planted it that winter.
Most of the pines in those two areas has not been choked out by the salt myrlte that came back.
I am running new fire breaks around it this may (That is as soon as I can get the equipment in). I will deffinately burn it again, but I need to do something different before and after the burn.
Machete and will power?

"Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord." Hebrews 12:14
Starts with soil disturbance... Road work, plot clearing, etc
Baccharis is a bitch
What soil type are you on?
A Nation of Sheep Breeds a Government of Wolves!
I'll have to look up the exact type, but generally is it red clay and shale.
Did you have any recent soil disturbance? Say 2+ years ago?
See it more in the clay that any where else

The pines were machine planted in 2008. I bet the vblade soils disturbance contributed.
Say G, will prescribed burning release small volunteer hardwood, say under 3" diameter?
Most fires gonna kill <3" hardwoods. Unless youve got light fuel. Oaks r slightly more tolerant than gums/poplars.
