    Default Boykin spaniel

I know that labs are pretty much the standard for duck hunting. I have owned labs my whole life and am wanting a change. I have put a lot of thought into different dogs and am looking for everyone's opinions on a boykin spaniel. Furthermore do they have trouble handling larger ducks and so on. What are the pros and cons. Let me hear them.

Also would like to add that I am open to other suggestions and reasons to chose that breed.

But if'n you're gonna buy one, send Rhett a PM and he will point you in the right direction. There's a little sawed off GA boy that breeds and trains em and if you're gonna spend that much money on a possum, spend it on one of his......

What he said. They're great dogs and I wouldn't hesitate getting one. Just make sure wherever you get one from they have done all the health clearances on sire and dam. There will be a few nice ones running at the Charleston Retriever club test this weekend in Bennetsville if you want to see them work.

I have two and will probably never own another breed. Great all around dog with great drive and will do anything you ask of them.

They are great dogs. I have 2. My female is a little smaller, but a hell of a dove dog. My male is only 7 months, but will be much larger. He is in Georgia with Blaine at Hudson River Retrievers. Blaine is a great guy that knows a lot about boykins. They are definitely completely different from a lab, but a great all around dog.

If you are going to get a chocolate opossum you better do your homework and get a nice hunting breeding. Check out the dam and sire.
