    I agree.

We played baseball in the spring and forgot about it during the summer till fall two a days started for football. Then we forgot about football while we played basketball and when that was done we did other stuff.

Somehow, and I have a theory as to how, sports has turned into a career for kids and it's stupid and sucks.

It's an Avocado variety. There are at least 7 commercially grown varieties. Haas is the most common. Small , green, pebbly skinned.

If you had a Kroger in the area, they run them at 10 for $10.00 pretty often.

    Avocadoes are good for you.

Camden City Market has half price produce today. That's when we stock up. Not sure if you have a local produce market that does the same to refill inventory? You can buy Avocados ahead and eat them as they ripen.

I drink a lot of Milk. Always have. Like I said, Protein and Carbs, load them up before hand, not the morning of. Before a morning workout, I may grab a casserole, small omelet, banana and a handful of almonds, etc., depending on how much time I have before, then eat again within 30 minutes of finishing.

Oatmeal with a big spoon full of crunchy peanut butter. Apples and bananas blueberries and pineapple. My wife makes a oatmeal bar casserole with pecans and honey. It's really good on the go. Complex carbs is the way to go.

You are 100% correct! We lifted in the 80s and ran, but nothing like today. A two day 7 on 7 tourney is a nut buster for skill kids. The lineman challenges, generally after their first one, will definitely motivate the big boys to stay in shape. A kid can get severely embarrassed at one of either of these if they are not where they need to be. The hurry up no huddle, it requires military type conditioning levels, keeps us fat old coaches in better than average shape too.

Are playing at Hammond? If so, just ask Jamie Scott. He always gave us "strong suggestion" when I was there.

Carbs can be eaten the night before and have the same results. Simple sugars in fruit may be good for quick energy that early.

If it were me, I would want a small to almost nonexistent meal before football then a huge meal afterwards. Peanut butter, fruit, small glass of juice, cliff bar (maybe)?? Just enough to stick something to my stomach. Glycogen stores can be ramped up the night before with a heavy carb meal, ya know, if you're into that sort of thing.

so how many of them play football past the age of 18?

I'm glad my boys play but I'm also glad they dont excel in any one sport. they play sports year-round, just not the same one over and over.

Boiled eggs and link sausage, it can be cooked up ahead of time and will provide plenty of fuel. Throw in a banana for vitamin K and they'll be rocking it.
