We did CrossFit Total today. It was my first time and I got 810. We had a guy get 1010 with a 500# dead lift.
Any of y'all ever done it?

810 is strong and 1010 is really strong.
It's been about 6 months since I've done it but mine was
405 Deadlift
335 Back Squat
180 Strict Press
920 Total
Editted to include - At our box we usually only max on two lifts a day when the 1RM cycles up. We've only done the "Crossfit Total" one time, and I'm betting it won't get programmed like that again. As stated, that is a lot of heavy lifting in one session to attempt true 1RM's on all three movements

This is off subject, but I've been reading Froning's book...I'm enjoying it
It was my first time doing it and damn if it wasn't rough. We tested 5 weeks ago on the three movements but it was one a day spaced over 5 days. Although I did PR on 2 movements, I definitely want to improve my squat.

Have y'all done that bench workout he does with 205? Start out with 10-9-8 so on with ten pull-ups between...it was a lot harder than I thought it would be.
I haven't but I bet it's pretty taxing on the body.

We did the Crossfit Total a month or two ago, and its the only time we've done that. I am not in y'alls class, but 6 months off the couch resulted in 3 PRs for me. 135 Press, 335 DL, 225 BS (got in my toes on the final attempt of 255, and bailed, but I was moving it, and have hit 245 since then). So, 695, for now.
Big jumps on DL and BS, from 1st attempts at each, individually, which was very encouraging. My goals for the next 6 mos, are to get to 150 Press, 400 DL (just over twice my body weight of 193), and 300 BS (lifters incoming!), or an 850 total. BS and DL are already coming up, and I'm sure the shoulder work is helping up the Press wieght, as well.
I enjoyed that workout - beat the hell out of "Coward Practice", as Glenn calls it. I dislike running.
Great job, Slaya. I've only been doing CF for 8 months. I'm ready to see how much progress I can make by the 1 year mark.

It always amazes me how people that are similar in body type can have such different strengths in their lifts.
I think my core is holding me back in my squatting
Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him
He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right
They don't put Championship rings on smooth hands
I agree. It never ceases to amaze me how some body confirmations are more suited to differing strengths. I do believe that people's musculature is stronger than they themselves can actually lift do to either poor muscle recruitment or a nervous system that isn't used to increasing loads.
My total was done at a height and weight of 6'2" and 195#. I'm now 190 and my single maxes are still the same, but things like the bench press and clean have gone up.
For my size I should be a helluva lot stronger so I know I've got a long way to progress
1005 last November:
455 DL
385 Back squat (pr month later 415)
165 Shoulder Press (bad shoulder)
Froning's book is an excellent read.

"You are Citadel Men, you have no pension for failure, you wear the Ring, you never let a friend down, you will be good fathers, husbands, and leaders in the armed forces and industry, you are strong in heart, body, and mind. You protect such things as Honor and Fidelity. Your virtues matter not only in wealth, but in the richness of family, you are the last of the knights."

That is Strong, Sir.
Thanks, I think there were two others around 1050.
