I keep one of these in the truck, one in the garage and one at the farm. If you ever need to buy a gift for a guy, they'll appreciate one of these for years, not just for lighting the grill but for everything from that to killing wasp nests. Instant on with a trigger.
It's good for starting charcoal but to really get the coals right, it takes air flow like the looftlighter or your wife's blow dryer.

Got one for Christmas. I was impressed. It lit the hell out of the charcoal and the sparks were limited. My map gas torch is now retired from grill work.
If you have an outlet near your grill it is well worth the money IMO.
The Kamado Joe lighter......the Joe Blow.....is a little more robust than the Looftlighter and it carries KJ's lifetime warranty, I believe.
