Personally I like the bulb in front of the filter to push the fuel since the fuel pump/vacuum will draw from the other side. Also, since you have the room, you might consider a clear bowl RACOR type fuel water separator. It is much easier to prime and you can draw water from the bottom without taking off the filter. If your bulb it not tight and staying tight, then you have a bulb/hose/o-ring problem. Good luck, MG

Check the flux capacitor, if that is OK, then do as others have suggested

I did try it with the bulb vertical last night after reading Tater's post. It didn't work, although I didn't pump it for 15min either.

Arrow is pointed toward the motor.
Pickup tube held vacuum until I depressed the plunger on the fitting, releasing the fuel in it.
If trying it again in the vertical position doesn't work, I'm gonna put the old fuel line back on it and see if that fixes it. If it does, I'm taking this POS Attwood back to Cabela's and replacing it with the Mercury. If it doesn't, I'm changing out the fittings and putting the bulb in front of the filter.

The thing that's perplexing about all of this is that it's set up exactly as it was before. Leads me to believe something's amiss with the bulb (quality).

Thanks for the input (for the most part).

If it is under pressure or vacuum, then its orientation means nothing. Orientation would only matter if it was gravity fed or was relying on a siphon to deliver which the pressure system overcomes.

Sounds too simple, but once I had a bad fitting that connected to the motor. It would break the seal unless you held it just right. Also, is there another set of Inlet / Outlets on the other side of the filter base that are securely plugged?

If you put the bulb where it's pushing gas Into the filter it will work just fine. Those bulbs won't pull gas through a filter especially if the filter is empty

Just go get Glenn's bote. He'll be eating dinner at your house anyway.

It's always worked just fine with that setup, but I see what you're saying.

Yes and yes. Nothing changed with the bracket. Been running it for probably 5 years.

I bet it's in similar condition. And if he's eating at my house, he'd better be bringing his own (joking - my wife's a damn good cook).
