Coming out of the Closet...
I.... Am...... A.... Turkey Hunter...
I know I will disappoint my friends and family, but it's just who I am..
It all started off with a little peer pressure and now I'm here..
I killed 7 turkeys this year, 4 in South Carolina and 3 out West.. All strutted and gobbled until they were shot in the face..
Number 1 strutted and gobbled for 3 hours in a clear cut, before I made my final move, which turned out to be fatal for this swamp bird.
Numbers 2 and 3, got sent to hell on a windy afternoon in April.. When the wind broke, I called and they came running.. The bird on the bottom was my first triple beard and part of my first double..

My last SC bird was the first of a fetish.. He had large spurs and was the first bird of soon to be many, taken with my 20gauge..
So, 4 hours into the trip, a buddy and I struck up two Merrio longbeards, pissed them off, and killed them dead in about a 25 minute hunt.. The 20 is just startling to get hot.,
That night, I celebrated with cold beer and an excellent steak into the late hours, so I didn't get mad at them again until about 10 the next morning.. And just like the day before, but with a different partner, a duo of birds came in running, gobbling and strutting all in the same breath.. My biggest bird to date 24lbs 4 oz was thwarted out of the air, when he tried to leave the party too soon.. The 20gauge is glowing by this time..
And last but not least, a friend from out there, invited me to go with him Sunday afternoon..
We saw the birds and gave them about an 800 circle.. After about an hour of teasing and prodding, yet another pair of Merrios came in shaking the earth.. Then it was their turn to circle us, as they snuck around to our 3 o clock.. They putted and commenced to get away, his bird made it to see Monday, my did not..
2014 was vey hit and miss.. But when it hit, it hit hard..
