    Default Ironman 2014

I'm back at it again. Training for my second Ironman. This one will be in Chattanooga in September. My training group and iI are now in full training mode, six days a week swimming, biking and running. Some days just swim, some bike and then run some just runs. I've been at it since January. Not everyday until just recently. This is my life for the next 4 months.

At 4:00 AM this morning I thought of these two videos. These apply to not just Ironman but any endurance sport or just general fitness training. Sometimes you need a little internal push when your tiny little brain says that you can sleep for just 6 more minutes.

It takes some dedication and I admire your efforts.

I have trained and completed two marathons. Training for an ironman makes that shit look like a cakewalk. Good luck. Never quit and never give up!

Cakewalk and Marathon don't go together unless you get cake at the end!!
    Nothing easy about ANY marathon.

Doing one Ironman is impressive enough. Doing the second one, even more so. It only took one marathon for me to realize I didn't want to go thru the training needed to do another one. I think I will stick to half-marathons and sprint triathalons myself.

I do enjoy reading you updates on your training, but have no desire to put myself thru that. I am so slow that the long runs are a day long event by the time I recover from them.

Do you follow a published training plan or make your own?

I have a friend here who is training for his second as well...he's doing the one near Lake Champlain.

The commitment and effort it takes for y'all to do these is amazing. Keep up the hard work.

I do think that there is something inherantly wrong with me. Maybe it's just I have a higher threshold for suffering. Or stupid or both.

As far as a training plan we all got together and made one up based on the one we used before which was based on one someone else used before.

Cedar I am also doing IMCHOO. This is my second, IM Florida was my first last year. Once you've done one, it sort of becomes and addiction. It's hard for others to understand why anyone would want to do it but the reward is priceless, to me anyway. I train with an online group and I'm headed to a camp in Aug. to finish up my training on the course.

    No doubt thats pretty cool.

I enjoyed the video. I noticed that most of the guys were skinny dudes that have run all the muscle off their bones. I wouldnt want to lean myself down like that but thats just me.

Bike course is said to be anywhere from 3400'-4200' of climbing. Not a lot of steep climbs, just constant rollers. Out of Chattagnooga, then 2 loops and back in.

Run is said to be around 700' of gain.

99% sure I'm headed to AZ for 2015 if everything works out and I can get in.

Get all that out of your system by October.
