    Default Blue Cat Rising

The bill to protect the Blue cat by restricting the size to one per person of 32 inch and a 10 fish limit, has passed the Wildlife sub-committee unanimously without any speaking against from the audience.

    Thanks for participating.

Santee needs to have World record potential size blue cats to keep the out of state crowd coming. Nobody comes for the rockfish, every state has bigger and more than we do these days.

Why would someone come from Georgia when he can catch 30-40 lber stripers in Lake Lanier.

Forget blue cats. What about top sown wheat for doves? Any results from the Clemson test plots?

Nuh Uhh, deer are going to eat the blue cats, they done started eating birds. Next will be alligators then the fish.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

    The language of the bill:

A BILL TO AMEND SECTION 50-13-640, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF BLUE CATFISH, SO AS TO DECREASE THE MAXIMUM LENGTH OF A BLUE CATFISH THAT MAY BE TAKEN ON CERTAIN BODIES OF WATER, TO MAKE A TECHNICAL CHANGE, AND TO ESTABLISH THE DAILY POSSESSION LIMIT FOR BLUE CATFISH TAKEN FROM LAKE MARION AND LAKE MOULTRIE; AND TO AMEND SECTION 50-9-1120, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE POINT SYSTEM FOR VIOLATING CERTAIN PROVISIONS THAT REGULATE FISHING AND HUNTING, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT TAKING OR POSSESSING MORE THAN THE LEGAL CREEL OR SIZE LIMIT OF BLUE CATFISH IS A FOURTEEN POINT VIOLATION
How much did those guides pay him for sponsoring this gem? Seems they want to kill every commercial guy out there?

Lose your hunting and fishing "rights" for going over the possession limit...

    Enjoy your mudhole.

Question, if I catch them and cut them from asshole to lips, then throw them back, does that count as possession?

Better yet, why would a catfishermam from NC come to santee anymore, when they are catching 30-100lbers out of Buggs Island, and they got 50 lb stripers? Also home of great bass, crappie, and panfishing.....One of my comparison lakes to this damn catfish argument......

They host the blue cat as a sporty game fish.

Sounds like it may be wanton waste under new regs....only a fool would not take it home and enjoy the nutrition from its tasty white meat. A rich fool.

This is not about preserving the fishery. It isn't about making it better. It is about pushing commercial fishermen out of business. It is also about a representative of the people in the back pocket of a special interest group.

If you read the language of that bill and see anything else, you are a blithering idiot.

Well nobody here can say you didn't give them fair warning that this bill needed opposition...
