Default Boat not peeing at WOT

Need some help guys. My motor has a strong pee stream in the water at idle and slow to medium speeds. Once the boat gets on plane and I am close to wide open throttle the motor stops peeing and steam starts to come out. Once I cut back to idle it starts peeing again. I initially thought it could be the angle of the motor but I have tried several adjustments and I still have the issue.

I cant find anyone else experiencing the same issue. Impeller? TIA

At WOT is the pickup for the water too far above the water line? When you back off the throttle the boat squats a little and you begin to pick up water again?

    Guessing.

The anti-ventilation plate is just under the surface of the water. The water intake screens are below that. That's why I initially messed around with the angle of the motor.

When is the last time it was changed?

That is where I would start.

I'd start there. very litle $, easy to do, and it will not hurt to do it even if its not the problem. i would be wiling to bet it is though.

Thanks for the advice. I'll swap it out and see what happens

I have seen this a few times, as stated start with the impeller. Check and see if someone may have put the stainer for the intake on the water pump on backwards. People will remove them to Get grass or trash out and swap them.

Update: The water screens were installed backwards and I think that may have been the issue. I also went ahead and changed the impeller assembly. The old one looked to be in decent shape but was starting to dry rot. I ran at WOT yesterday to and from our hunting spot and it peed the whole time. Hope this helps someone out in the future. Check the water screens first.
