    Fill them with preseason scouting.

I love walking in the woods this time of the year. Nobody but me out there. No bugs. Went yesterday and found an old firebreak had been cleared, making a great place even better, Now I can get in there in the dark without near the noise and it gives turkeys a natural lane to walk and gives me a better view.

Next week I have plans to explore an area at the club that I want to get to know better. The week after that another area and so on. Once March gets here I will start scouting individual birds. Mornings before work will be spent listening from near the truck. On days I don't have to work I will be listening from those places I have to walk to.

Nothing better than turkey season but pre turkey season can be pretty dang good if you make it that way.

The older I get the more I look forward to turkey season. I college, I started getting excited and thinking/preparing for it in January. This year, I started in June. Lots of excitement for this spring.
