It's a great motor, don't get me wrong. I had it on my grandfather's old '59 alumacraft 1436 and it would scoot but that boat is very light and had almost no weight in it. That duracraft is a good bit heavier, especially with a hunting load but the motor does pretty good considering.

Coming from various old OMC motors that constantly required work and guzzled gas, the Yamaha is so nice...reliable, easy to start, and good on gas.

Yeah I had good gas mileage, and each purchase has made it worse and worse

This is I think the dead swamp mud (something like that) with LSB, with black nat on top. Brett did the camo on it.

I'm five feet eleven, 185lbs, half blonde half grey hair, and my eyes are blue in color. I also learned that I'm a sagittarius, I hope that's not a conflict.

Man and other animals were first vegetarians; then Noah and his sons were given permission to eat meat: “every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you” Genesis 9:3

"A man may not care for golf and still be human, but the man who does not like to see, hunt, photograph or otherwise outwit birds or animals is hardly normal. He is supercivilized, and I for one do not know how to deal with him." Aldo Leopold

SLOW, unless you know how to make it push water more efficiently. Adding more hp doesn't make a boat go much faster. It's how big a prop you can push. Yamaha 50 can go as fast as a 70 given they guy with the 50 can jack up the motor more and run a good powertech or a chopper.

Edit: I guess no more than 47 to 50. HOW CLOSE AM I??? Like the boat though, you done a good job and all!

I didn't go from small block to big block to go faster, I purchased it to tote a load. Right now it's running low 40's with a bent, worn out 19p alum pontoon prop. Plan to try a couple diff props in the coming weeks to fine tune it all. Should run high 40's, but again, I was looking for the bottom end that the big blocks offer opposed to the top end.
