Got into Saskatchewan late Thursday and spent all day Friday looking birds. Finally found some in a lentil field and put them to bed. Like clockwork they were there the next morning. 5 man limit in no time.

After finishing up the hunt we went to locate some birds for Sunday's hunt. While walking around a slough I stepped in a muskrat hole, fell and landed on a rock. 3 hours later after finding a doctor I get the bad news. I need a pin put in my hand. They would not accept my insurance or credit card so after paying $1000 cash for a x-ray they said they could put the pin in for $15k cash. After politely telling them hell no I called Delta to change my flight and get round two of the ass raping. Round trip was $575 but one way back was $1075 for me plus another $300 for the mutt. Fucking highway robbery I tell ya and by far the most expensive 8 mallards I've ever shot. Put my Obamacare to use at the ortho-surgeon today so we'll see how bad that will hurt in a few weeks.

    That is some bad luck.

I have nearly torn up all three of my knees in varmint holes.

    Hope you heal well.

Sorry to hear about this bad luck.

I tell people all the time, the older I get, the more cautious I have become. Its the little things when we are out afield that can really ruin a trip for you or your partners. I don't cross slippery logs anymore, i take the long way if at all possible, avoid the chance of the incident and the results are less costly.

Like the old bull, I tend to ease down there with intentions to fuck em all, versus young bull, run down there for just one piece.

Sorry about your luck, sounds like you need to say a little thankful prayer, and be content with what you got, versus pissed off about what you didn't get.

    There is always next year!

    Hate your bad luck.

Damn that changing the flight fee. I'd have stayed just because of that. It'd still been broke when you got home but at least you wouldn't have been.

    That sucks!

Not sure how unbearable your pain was, but did you consider putting one of those drug store bandages on it and staying the rest of your trip?

I did but the doctor said it needed pinning asap. Well turns out the ortho surgeon said no pin necessary, just a cast. I didn't want to take any chances so I came on home.

They wanted to pin it because they were seeing $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I would have told the Doc I'd shove that pin up his ass for free.
