    Or, straight gut.

If it were me, I would back out and go find that deer tonight... Two people and one good dog. Just one man's opinion.

    Make that 2!

Keep the people out. Take a trained dog around 6.

If its dead it will be close.

    poor, Tee.
“… duckhunting stands alone as an outdoor discipline. It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. No other sport has so many theories, legends, casehardened disciples and treasured memories.”

Nitro gave you solid advice. You have likely tracked scent from the wounded deer around the area that the dog will have to work through. Stay out of there and get a dog that has been trained to trail.

You go in with a wad of people and dogs stumbling around following whatever scent catches their attention and you're making it worse for yourself.

No it wasn't. Good shots and the deer either falls in sight or you hear it crash within hearing range. A sharp broadhead kills deer fast. (if hit properly)..within seconds normally.

I can't tell you how many times I have been asked to help find a "good shot", only to find a deer gut shot, leg shot, etc.

I truly hope you find the deer. I'm interested... Good luck.
