    I have never been allowed to have ammo in the locked case with a firearm... YMMV..

    Some airlines are more restrictive than the tsa requires. I've had to show them their own rules before.

    Admittedly did not read all of the replies in the thread. I'm sure it's already been said, so I will reiterate...get a gun case that has wheels. And do not cheap-out on the case.

    Not sure what the deal is with the "TSA approved locks". My case does not have them. It has only ever been an issue once, in the San Antonio airport. They walked me into the depths of the airport and led me to a nearly empty room with a metal chair. After a 5-10 minute wait, a TSA agent came into the room with my case and went through it. Then I was good to go. Kind of strange.
