This thread reminds me: Life is short, I have a lot more critters I want to kill before I die.

Amazing. I would love to listen to his stories over several hours and a few liquor drinks.

He is one hell of a wingshot too..

I love the man dearly. We have shared many adventures..

Hunt with him and you better know his rules and play by them.
Don't forget the 2 radio transmitters !! Bwahaha!! One on a merriam and the other on a pintail

Band magnet is a under statement. I've heard some rather funny, unremarkable band recovery stories. 2 of my favorites that sum up his "luck"...he sicked Ace on a crippled redhead 100yds from the camp in the ditch.....banded!! Back in the 80s-90s he was walking a dried up lake bed in TX and found a near perfect skeleton intact with a band on the leg! Seems like I've heard him say a songbird flew into his back door one time and died..banded

SOB don't miss!! The Doc Holliday of the shotgun..KNO DAT. Pbiz can speak of his shooting skills first hand. We were sitting in the reservoir field last year...me, Pbiz, Stephen, and another member...had a 2 piece slip in behind us and he popped up turned 180 and smoked both birds in about 2seconds flat...

It's always comical to watch someone get in the pit with him that doesn't know his rules....

Pat's number one rule is to try to have as much fun as him.

Over the years, I have bought him hats, vests, calls , knives, to try to "pay back" what he has given me.....he accepts them graciously... and they disappear .. I did catch him using a gifted knife for a few seasons.

Ian, you see what he wears on his head.. LOL!!

He is my Waterfowl Mentor.. I owe him.

I love looking at all of the pics on that thread. I know all of the stories I have in just 6 years of water fowling and I would love to sit and just listen to some of his! Judging by his collection he could probably talk for weeks about his experiences.

Yes...pretty cool!! Last of a dying breed for sure. Just the amount of knowledge I've learned just from watching him...not even asking or him offering...is unparalleled ...he's a silent teacher and if you can put up with his antics/and famous one-liners and the inevitable scoldings you will learn more than you could ever imagine

He is hell on the Gobblers too. Something he picked up later in life.. In Pat style, he regularly kills 10 or more a year and put the 100 mark astern a few years back...

Thanks for the tip but I doubt I would get the opportunity to listen to his stories either way.
