Default Day on the Pee Dee

Son and I put in around 2 pm and headed up river. Water was dropping but we ended up with 7 catfish, biggest was about 6 lbs. A few bream and a redbreast. I had a bass on the line but he popped the line (didn't replace the line when I bought it earlier that day) . I put new line on it and a dozen cast later hooked into a nice size cat. He surfaced about 10 yards out and rolled. Brand new rod split in half. It was a cheap ultra light rod. Son laughed for about 20 mins and joked about it rest of the day.

To my surprise, he didn't want to leave at sunset. He begged to sleep in the boat and catch the big boys all night long.

Sounds like you have a little one that loves the outdoors as much as you do.

Glad to see him with his PFD on.

Best part was when we got to the first spot... I was putting the rods in the water when son said 'daddy, that person doesn't sound good making that noise like you do'... then I realized there was a hen on the bank yelping and cutting. Proud when he pointed out the turkey. Only 4 years old...
