    Default WA State Merriams........May 2013

Took Gutpile to WA for some Mountain climbing with firearms.

Shook off some of the stereotypes about Merriams turkeys. We faced henned up Gobblers that shook the hills with Gobbling and drew the line at 50 yards..

We did find 4 gobblers willing to play and they rode home on Delta. They gobbled like crazy and drummed as loud as any turkey you will hunt.

Saw the usual gorgeous vistas along the river.. lots of Elk, Mule Deer, Whitetails, Coyotes and Waterfowl for a bonus.

My favorite hunt of the year. Good lord willing, I will have it in me to climb the mountains in 2014.. they are getting steeper that is certain.

    One day....

    Good killing!
“… duckhunting stands alone as an outdoor discipline. It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. No other sport has so many theories, legends, casehardened disciples and treasured memories.”

Will crushed this one.......... he came a long way from the bottom of a canyon. He gobbled 50 times and we could hear him drumming before we saw him at 50 yards. He zig zagged up the mountain in full strut.. worked his way to the right and got smashed..

I was privileged to watch Will in action.. I have killed a fair number in front of Will , glad the bird veered to the right so Will could kill his first white tip.

Awesome work AG. It is flat killing me that I'm not in the woods.

He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right

Will is a fine young man. This trip was his college graduation gift. If I didn't know so much about his nasty side, I would try to pawn my oldest daughter off on him.. LOL!!!

We had a damn fine adventure.
