    Default Light rail

Decided to fab up a light rail for my 1846GTB. It's made from 1" EMT and welded together. There are some slip fit connectors, so I can raise and lower my trolling motor. I'm running 3 500w, and 4 250w halogens. Still have to get 2 more 250's. It slips into my head light sockets and is held to the back deck with two EMT hangers. I can take put it on or take it off in 5 mins. It still needs paint and wiring.

I take an PLB in the shower with me. Can't ever be too safe.

I hope to install the final two lights this evening. I have the lights zip tied to the rail now, so I can slide them around to get the light spacing right. Would you recommend that route or should I just space them evenly and screw them to the rail?

get them where you want them the first few trips by using the zip ties, then screw them where you want them. once you figure out where they need to be, they wont need to move, and you wont want them to move. looks good. you are fortunate to have a boat with a flush deck like that. sure is better than having to build one.

Thanks for the info. The rail is now black and I am wiring it all tonight. I hope to get a genny this week and try them out this weekend.

There are 3/4" connectors hammered in the ends of the pipe, then they are butt welded over that. I wouldn't trust just a butt weld by itself.

you will more than likely need to move the front two side lights up just a little, and maybe even on the corners to keep from having a dark spot off the front corners. thats where you will shoot 50% of your fish on those front two corners. just keep that in mind before you screw em in.

looks good tho. hell of alot nicer than my first rig. haha

The light in the very front would get in my way. Can't tell you how often I shoot straight down on a fish going under the boat. I would mount it under the rail insread of on top. Then like DDS said, move the two side lights up where they are facing a little in front of the boat instead of out to the side. It looks like you do not have enough light pointing out in front of the boat, and too much light to the sides. I would say you shoot closer to 80% of the fish out front or just to the front sides.
Can the troller be put up with the rail?

Bc you do such a good job on them. I thought the boat you had at the run last year was badass cant wait to see when you get done with this one.

And bc i would never spend that kinda time to trick my boat out. To busy, to lazy. Little of both.
