    Impressive work fellas!


    Looks like I have the right audience for a woodworking question related to the pictures below.

    I am looking to build a pet / baby gate for this staircase and am having a hard time deciding how to do it because the step starts before the Newel Post.

    If it were you, would you build the gate out and follow the contour of the first step? Almost like a "L" shape gate?...Or put a Newel post where the gate should be in front of the stair and build/use a standard gate?

    Woodworkers please bring on the ideas or suggestions! Thanks!

    I would add a post and build the gate straight across the first stair. Infill between post to match existing.

    I am not a wood worker.

    If you need someone to come over and point, I am good at that.

    Looks like you could modify 2 baby gates to work there if you dont want to add a post.
