Brian, do you lay the boards on apiece of plywood or just glue them up? If you do a "sub floor" you could have made an "L shaped" corner. Glue the piss out of the boards to the base along with the biscuits and hopped for the best. It would have helped hold stuff together. Top looks good tho!

Ha. Just seeing this. All good.
I don't do any underlayment. My joints are tight and it's all biscuited together.
I could have easily done a mitered corner (which I suggested to the owner) but she didn't want that look. Wasn't my countertops - I'm just the grunt building them.
I don't need my name in the marquee lights....

Unfortunately, that is how it goes. Hey, and if the silly chick was/is happy, good deal.

What size boards are you planning on planing. I have a dewalt I toted back and forth to the jobsite and now its not big enough to do some of the things I wish I could.

At this point nothing more than 12” I’d say.

ETA: hobby use, not for a living.

The dewalt is nice. Buy the biggest you can afford, if you buy from the big box store, they usually always have replacement knives in stock.

Thanks, lot of hard hardwoods so replacement knives will be needed.

Buy a Grizzly 15” with a helical head and thank me later. I have a 12” DeWalt is the tool trailer for job use. It’s serviceable but bad about snipe and not exactly the smoothest. You can get the bigger DeWalt but it costs as much as a Grizzly. I will never own another straight knife planer again. I have a Jet 20” HH, quiet, smooth and easy. I replaced the head in my jointer with a HH and have a little bench top HH in the trailer.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I ended up purchasing a DeWalt planer. For my needs it will suffice until I have adequate shop space and funding to get a more professional model.

First cutting board through the new planer.
