    Default Woodworkers

Let's see some of your work.......... (might need a new idea here or there)
I know RY has some good pieces and I took an idea from Calibogue for my latest project (deck/dock box).

Here's a couple of my latest efforts...

Revolving bookcase for my daughter. It has 2 removable shelves, full-length mirror, 3 coat hooks, and then cork above/chalkboard below on the 4th side.

This idea came straight from Calibogue, who built a similar box recently.
We needed to replace 2 plastic boxes that sit beside our pool - one for storage of equipment/chemicals and another for floats and such. I am doing both in 100% #2 Cypress (floor will be treated plywood). One is done - got one to go.......

All impressive work, I used to work on Yachts in the mid 80's and early 90's. My favorite thing was working with Teak, and doing the brightwork ( Varnishing ).
Because that was the one thing that showed how hard you worked for sure.
18 to 20 coats, and shiny enough to lokk at and pick your teeth.

I had a crapload of before and after photo's, but the wife had thought the box was something else and put it under the sink, then it leaked.

I hope to get back into working with wood soon. As ill have a garage to work in.

Bird Dawg what is the patio in the last pic made of? Stamped concrete or stone? We are looking to redo ours and that is exactly what we are looking for.

Simple, if you don't mind me asking, how much did that box run you? I'm looking at getting a deck box and would like something made out of wood instead of plastic.

It actually was a slate tile. It came in sheets with 5 or 6 pieces per sheet and they all interlocked. You put it down the same as tile. It was a neat product that turned out nice. It was sort of a pain in the ass to install at first, but once we got the hang of it it wasnt so bad. It is much cheaper than doing stone. We put it down over a concrete slab. I think we got it from Floor and Decor.

I've got $350 in that pile of material laying by the garage door. That was supposed to have been enough for two, but I underestimated the tongue/groove and will have to reorder more of it. I may have to order a couple more sticks of the 3/4x4 too. I also bought 300 SS trim screws for the lids. Looking at probably $300ea by the time you consider the gas shocks I've still gotta buy for the lids.

These steps were part of that deck. I went through a bunch of 2x6's before I got the compound cut on the hand rail correct.

BD - out of curiosity how much did the roof over the patio cost? Thinking about doing that over my deck and have no idea how much it would cost. Feel free to pm me.

    Thanks
