Thinknig of starting a fishing club. Just wondering what everyone's thought's were on how many members it should consist of. It's a 10 acre pond & is very well stocked. I plan to set strict limits of how many, how big ,ect. I've drafted the help of a Clemson Extension employee to help me with pounds per acre & that sort of stuff. Didn't know if any of you belonged to any fishing clubs & if so what the set up was..

    Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, what in the @#$% would anyone join a fishing club for?

Buy a license, fish untold amounts of water w/ good fishing.

Be nice to a farmer, fish their ponds, and take them fillets on occasion.

    Am I missing something here?

I can answer that one for you, Fatfish. If there was a "club" that I knew of where I could catch 5+ 5lbs bass and a mess of bream nearly every trip, I would be all over it. Also, it would be great to have a club like this to take kids, nephews, girlfriends, etc... I did have a pond like this, but my buddy lost the lease on the property. And that sucked.

Thanks CD. I'm amazed at the interest thus far. I belonged to one many years ago & it was great.

Mars, we have a pond like that. Our pond is 23 acres and we have about 10 members. Rarely do I ever fish there with more than one other boat. I would say the number of members would depend on how much you think they are going to fish. We have had the same basic families involved for about 40 years. The pond and the land is owned by all members.

Curly, If you don't mind, how much are the memberships? We're looking @ $500 a year.

You and GBelly are in luck, 2th. I have decided to sell memberships in Cali's pond. I won't accept balls for payment but we might be able to work something out on pussy...

the rumors are true. he is a lovesick puppy who must not have time to check in on SCDucks any more. We can rag him to our hearts' content without fear of retribution.

Was talking to 'bogue on the phone a few days ago and he said he only killed one buck and hunted a few times. I am supposedly in love too, been that way for 9 years now, but damn man...someone needs to get him straight before he really is gone.

but, ya cant help but be happy for a man thats gettin some...even if he is driving halfway across the state to make ends meet. Hard to believe there aint no poon closer to home.

Ok, here is my take. Fishing a stocked pond would take all the challenge and fun out of catching that 5 plus pounder. How boring it would be to always catch a big fish. No thrill of victory or agony of defeat. This is why I do not like that Tennessee hat wearing stocked pond fisherman Bill Dance. He catches the same fish week in and week out. BORING!!! The only thing it might benefit would be kids to get them hooked on fishing and you need to do that anyways. The easier it is for a kid to catch a fish, the more they like it and want to go back.
Whatever women must do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult.

-Charlotte Whitton-

Fishgirl - interesting thoughts on not catching stocked fish... not so sure its the stocking that bothers you, but the ponds. I hear ya... its different.

But I bet you don't feel like catching stripers at Murray is Bill Dance bootlegging?
