Bge here. Either I had an Xl and traded it for large, or had large and went medium. Either way I love it.

Same here. It's doing great, too.

    I'm sold on kamado cookers!

Thinking about flipping some guns to fund an XL BGE, table and deck expansion for more room under the dome and more room in general.

The Akorn travels pretty easy, too. Took mine on the road two weeks ago for a range session with .45's, 9mm wangs and stuffed jalapenos.

    Yeah, very nice equipment.

I had the luxury of going to a local grill shop that had both the Primo Oval XL right beside an XL BGE.

The XL BGE is larger. I think they may have changed the dome height slightly, too....last year or the year before.

Either would be nice....but I'm leaning toward the XL BGE.

    BGE - XL

Last weekend - butt, ham, whole chicken, rack of ribs, about 8 or 10 turkey drumsticks, tuna and salmon.

What was the cost difference in the two, BGE XL and Primo XL?

He's currently selling the XL BGE for $125 less.

He said he sales 15 XL BGE for every Primo XL.

Both seem to be quality products....BGE has longer warranty but he said Primo is solid on shipping parts straight to your home, not to the dealer like BGE.

What sold me on the Primo XL was that it has a divider so that you can have true indirect heat. There is also more surface grill area on the Primo, oval vs round. Primo made in America, egg Mexico. That didn't actually sway me but true. More eggs sold cause of name brand, like Yeti. Primo owner left BGE to make a better product. 899.00 price also!

BGE has a lifetime warranty on all ceramic components. The metal/cast iron components have a limited warranty, but if they break due to standard use, BGE will replace them.

Pretty much as long as you don't drop or really fuck up the egg, they will replace broken or defective parts. Their customer service is one of their strongest attributes... they are pretty much like Wal-Mart regarding returns.

Not trying to argue which is better, but what's the difference in using the plate setter for indirect heat in the egg?

Not that familiar with the egg but you can put the charcoal on one side of the primo and the meat on the other side. They have a metal plate that divides the charcoal area. I guess what your talking about are the removable ceramic plates that deflect the heat?

Yeah, that's the egg setup for indirect. Just like an oven.

It wasn't gamish, slow and low. All I used was was just a tad of Coleman's HS towards the end. Uncivilized people add sauce before the last half hour.

    Yup. Their reputation is solid.

Ton of aftermarket parts.....even firebox dividers if you are into that. I could care less to offset my coals. Plate setter is all I'll most likely ever use. The size of that XL BGE is the tits. Plenty of real estate to work with.
