    Default Child's Life Vest

Need some suggestions for a COMFORTABLE vest for the 30-50 lb range.

The ones I have just cause crying and have enough styrofoam to float a boat dock.

I don't recall the make, but we were at Dick's in ATL, GA last week and they had one that was very nice, reasonably priced, and seemed like it would be comfortable as hell for a kid.

It had a lot of mesh in the shoulder/chest area and a good bit of floatation material, but was not bulky at all.

I meant to save the UPC so I could pick one up elsewhere, as I will no longer purchase ANYTHING from Dick's.

I know exactly what you mean with the crying and thick styrofoam around their neck. Look at the neoprene vests, the one we found wasn't as bulky.

Do what my dad did and tell them to just get over it... "wear the life jacket or stay at home" So i wore the life jacket.

My kids have all been wearing them since they were little babies, so they're good about understanding the no jacket/ no boat policy. I believe they get used to them if they were them alot. We've had 2 neoprene jackets that were the most comfortable for them. They were Ocean Pacific. Not sure where my wife picked them up, but worth looking around for them.

We've used the neoprene for the kids too...a little more expensive, but more comfortable. May still have them.

Little Brother likes the ones from Worst Marine.

Him in one at four years and his first flounder:

Same model a few years later:

Then last summer when I left him stuck in pluff mud for enough time to make him think I was leaving him:

Take him and let him pick it out. Lightning McQueen has been through two boys and still going. When lil g outgrew it I let him pick out a replacement. He got neoprene from Costco. I bought one to match. Lead by example.

I am going to do some more digging. It was cool, and made me feel kind of old to see him age in just a few posts...

    Are you near Greenville?
My kids have out grown theirs.
They are 3 buckle ski type vests. I'm not sure what brand.
I'll give you one of those.

The blue on on the front of the boat is a Sterns from Wally world, and he complains about it all the time. It rides up and rubs are his neck alot when riding no matter how tight.

This one he loved but cant remember the brand . I think it was a OBX brand.
