Go SC! DJ says no Clemson colors on his bag

    By Jason Sobel
    Jan 8, 2013 5:52 PM ET

KAPALUA, Hawaii – When TaylorMade unveiled its 2013 golf bags and hats, every player in its stable was on board with the design and color scheme.

    Except for Dustin Johnson.

The South Carolina native and staunch Gamecocks supporter winced at having an orange stripe on his bag because that color represents the rival Clemson Tigers.

So instead, TaylorMade filled in the orange, leaving Johnson’s bag and hat similar – but not the same – as his fellow stablemates.

It’s working so far, as the orange-less Johnson claimed the Hyundai Tournament of Champions on Tuesday for his seventh career victory.

I have heard others say the same. What's his deal?

Ooooooohhh, spin and deflection from the original.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Nahhh. That is just me trying to rile our resident golfers. I don't think blow is what Daniel was referring to in his post and something tells me he knows something about the guy that will make me not want to pull for him. Cocaine sure as hell isn't anything new to the golf course. The Heritage in the 80's was a fucking party, son.

This is my last year of my self proposed ban of the sport, playing my own ball. But JAB, I don't think I've played a dead sober round of golf in eighteen years.

That is good to hear! I haven't been since '94 when Hale won. We got to see some legends win that thing in the late 80's and early 90's.

I went to HS with him as well. While I wouldn't make him my child's godfather I'll still pull for him regardless of his past shenanigans.

He is always professional when he played at the courses I've worked at. Called ahead and thanked us after.

Grew up playing rec league ball with and against him. Parents and family members showed up at the games boozed up all the times giving umpires and other players hell. They were the family nobody wanted their children around.
DJ was always cocky, and arrogant, like his shit didn't stink. I know he had atleast 2 DUIs (real close to one another) while he was at Coastal. Got in bad financial trouble (still is) because of coke.

He was charged with second degree burglary when he was in high school. Could have been a lot worse:

In January 2001, Johnson was one of five younger boys recruited by Steve Gillian to break into a house. Little of value was taken, except for a .38 caliber handgun. According to appellate court documents, the next day Johnson, who had on another occasion pawned 12 stolen watches at Gillian's request, was persuaded, reluctantly, to purchase bullets for the gun. Both he and Gillian were captured on store video. "Obviously not under any pretense that anything bad was going to happen," says Johnson. Then, on Jan. 28, 2001, after an argument at a party, Steve Gillian lured Jason Ward out behind the same shopping center where the watches had been stolen and shot him multiple times in the head. Because Johnson's connection was tangential, his punishment was to pay restitution for the theft and to testify, if need be, at Gillian's murder trial. Gillian is currently serving a life sentence without possibility of parole.

Just being the same age, growing up around him, having similar friends, he's a damn snake in the grass. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

And that's how I feel about DJ.

Durn. Looks like he's the complete opposite of someone to pull for!
