    Default "Old" Decoy values

I was asked by a friend to price some older decoys 80's to sell. I don't consider these antiques but nice working blocks. They may be LL Bean and Herters or similar cork style dekes.

Any idea where I can find a list of companies and possible values?

I know nothing about old decoys. I'm almost afraid of it because I know what would happen if I ever got a book on the subject...

"Antique" decoys is a whole 'nother world...

As for your friend's decoys, I would suggest taking a look at today's going rates in the catalogs and such in order to get a ballpark idea on what they're going for these days. Ebay would also be another good data point. My gut feel, for what it's worth, is that you should be able to get a little less than today's list price in the catalogs depending on their condition.

One word of caution on Ebay. I collect turkey calls and have bought a few off of EBAY. The price can vary significantly from time to time on the same item. I would watch for a month or two and see what the average is, or a true realistic price is.

I have one old mallard wooden decoy with glass eyes (I think) that was given to me by my Grandad before he passed. He said that he found it floating in a creek on the Waccamaw I think. Said it came from the direction of one of the Rice fields on the Plantation. Should've been in the 1950's.
