Shot her about 20 yards away from a ladder stand with one shot. she ran about 50 yards. the gun is a uberti 45 colt. bullet was a speer golddot. That was one of the fastest hunts have ever had. As soon as i sat down in the stand I saw her coming down the trail. When she stepped out I Fired a shot she kick up and hauled ass, listened to her run through the woods and crash. Got down and had a blood trail that a blind man could follow. the speer gold dot did a good job.

I love to pistol kill deer. Got my first in Kingstree with a .357 back in 2001. Was walking to my stand, jumped basket racked 8 pointer; unholstered my side arm and pulled the trigger (double action - the buck was "running" straight away from me and had a huge dirt pile dead ahead). The bullet went in just under the back of his skull and came out of his mouth; busted his front teeth up pretty bad. If I would have been able to think about the shot and aim I know I would've missed. Just wish I would've taken a picture or two but didn't have a digital camera at the time... heck, didn't have a camera at all!
My second pistol kill was with a Ruger Redhawk .45 single action at 10 yards. Broadside shot, rolled her over, she kicked a couple times, then lights out. This was back in 2003. I haven't gone after 'em with the pistol since, but because of this thread you've made me get that hankerin'. I'll see what I can do this weekend!
