Been a while, and several transgressions since I last updated this thread.

I felt this past weekend's exploits were worth posting about.

As several folks have mentioned, he has a large appetite. This weekend, I was using cut eel for bait. I would like to mention, that this dog loves to ride on our fishing trips, and I have never had an issue with him eating bait.

Well, this jackass decides he loves eel. I had one that I cut up for bait sitting on the cooler lid, and I reach for a piece, and I'll be damned if it wasnt gone. Thinking a branch swept it overboard maybe I cut some more up, bait my hook, and reposition the boat. As I reposition, I lay the baited hook on the deck.

Out of nowhere, the dog explodes. Head shaking, bucking like a damned bronco, rearing up on his hind legs like a damned horse....

Seems he got lip hooked with a VMC 12/0 circle hook. It was buried pretty good and was not backing out with my twine trick, ( I had to try).

Ran back to the truck, with the boy in hysterics, and the dog not far behind him.

Got my bolt cutters, and sharp filet knife, and my likker stash.

Bolt cutters worked, and I was able to push it on through.

The next morning, it was like nothing had happened, and he was ready to roll:

I have an apricot tree in my yard.

The fruit is ripe and falling.

The son of a bitch sits out there and grazes on rotten fruit. I cant figure out if he is looking to get drunk, or is just looking for sustenance.

    I swear, I feed him.

    Nope.

It was a birthday present from the wifey. It will be entered into next years state duck stamp competition. We'll see how it goes.

    Whatever makes you feel better.

    I'm friends with Pam

I see your comments getting the artwork just perfect.

Not knocking you, I like the idea. The picture with lil bro and the goat in the hightide would have been a good one to have painted.

She was twitchy about the wigeon bill.

    I am not offering suggestions.

It's cool, but having a commissioned piece of my jackass isnt my style. I am more of a print it at walgreens kind of guy. which is why it was such a unique gift, I reckon.

If I had known this was coming, I would have asked for this one thing.

But, as it stands, Pam got a collection of photographs, and when my wife randomly asked me what my favorite duck was...I got a what Pam thought was the best picture, and a wigeon out of his mouth. (which by now, we all know would never happen. The Jackass would have devoured him by the time you got your camera out to snap a picture).

I've always heard dogs act just like their owners!
