Am I the only dip$hit that didn't get his food plots in ahead of this storm? Long range forecast shows no rain for as long as they are forecasting after this storm moves on. Same set up as last year where it didn't rain from 9/15 until 11/1.

Just hope for bird pee.
I'm just about ready to give up on food plots. I can't keep the bastards out of it long enough to get established. Everything I got looks like the bread aisle of your local grocery store with a hurricane in the forecast.

Got the remainder of mine in Saturday

Dont need rain if you still have moisture in the soil. This big rain would wash most of my seed away in the hilly rocky clay i have to work with. Dont sweat it you have plenty of time!
We saw Mathew coming last year and put all our stuff in the ground. It got good rain, grew about 3" tall and then the drought hit. It stayed 3" tall for the entire season. We held off this year, will wait for some more consistent rain.

Well damn. Is it going to rain before thanksgihing? Forecast for the next 15 days shows nothing but sunny bluebird days. May just skip on planting this year. Any others in the same boat and giving up or we will you plant in mid to late October if you have to wait that long for some rain? My dumb ass also already bought all my seed. Will the seed keep til next year? Never kept seed that long. Always just bought it and put it in the ground a few days later.
We planted last Saturday. Where I planted, with the exception of a few places, there was still a ton of moisture in the ground. I feel like I will be just fine.
Yes you can keep seed for a year but it needs to be kept in a cool dry place.

so now we complain because it MIGHT NOT rain?
Geez. Make dirt. Put seed down in it. Get harv to do his dance thing. Wait.
You're feeding a damn goat. Not your family.

and i dont care if there is "moisture in the soil" unless you just want it to germinate and sit there. I'll plant IN the rain if I had to....
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
I planted earlier this year. Planted August 19th and everything has grown pretty well. I do also have a way to get water to the plot if need be but seems to be holding on very well. Going to throw out some clover in it to fill in a few of the small gaps and fertilize it next weekend if all works out the way it should.

Got mine in 2 days before Irma. Looks like some shit off tv. Deer are hammering then

Funny this came up.
Our summer plots are still looking good. We planted alyce clover and aeschynomene. Bush hogging a couple new spots this past week getting ready for fall plots. The thought off spraying those plots sucks. Especially with getting them in late. Planted last year this week actually.
Time line now is looking to be week of October 9- 14.
I'm not worried about the rain as soil has moisture. Im worried about another shitty winter.

Moved tractor with new drill to northern Screven County next to Wade Plantation. Got a day of planting Saturday. Just by looking at tracks in the sand, theirs some heavy on the feet deer up here. May be looking for volunteers to shoot doves once 500 acres of peanuts are picked.
Yep i need that for about a day.
