Should the DNR board have set a lower limit for dove than the feds allow?
Feds allowed 15. The board sent out a survey they had just under 50% support for a reduced limit of 12. The board set it at 12. DNR staff softly suggested 15.
DNR Board should have allowed 15
DNR Board was right to allow 12
I'm fine with 12 but board was wrong.
The Board should lose their ability to set limit.

Either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing.

Based on information you have supplied me with, leave it at 15.
Go Tigers!!!
12 or 15 isn't the issue to me. It is when (not in just the case of the dove limit) opinions of biologists and managers who know a heck of a lot more than the board members are ignored. SCDNR Should set all limits and seasons based on thier own data and federal recommendations.

I have no clue. But I would imagine that opening day always being the Saturday before Labor Day is not based on any science, it is based on tradition. The season dates are set by the legislative committee. As with everything else, SCDNR makes recommendations but the committee makes the final decisions

Like others, the limit reduction doesn't bother me. But if I read right, and I have been drinking, there was a slight favor in support to keep it at 15 and they still changed it? That just goes to show that it doesn't make a fuck, the board will do whatever they want, it doesn't matter what the people want.
12 is fine. Don't know why they changed it to start with when you can kill that many does 3 birds matter ?

12 or 15 either way. My issues is that the board making setting limits. Biologist should set limits. In my opinion the board needs to go away and let the DNR manage the DNR.
people act like they shoot a limit every time they go...
Should have left it at 15 and the board should not be setting limits. Especially based on "feelings".
The way our field looked this morning they could set the limit at three and I don't think I could get it. Last week there were 100-200 birds using the field, this morning I saw one bird on the line.
The dilemma though is the board any better than the GA at setting wildlife regs? I think the answer is HELL NO!!

"Wow, often imitated but never duplicated. No one can do it like the master. My hat is off to you DRDUCK!"
The board is flexing their muscles.
Windows Down!
DT- what spurred this thread, is the board getting more push back now that the regs have been posted? Are the survey questions and results available to the public?
