    Default Blood-Red Turtle Head

    It rhymes...

I got up to VA for some troots. Not too big, but for this overpopulated river, the ones I came upon weren't too shabby.

    Started in this rifflewater.

    Promising....

    Before the rains

    Quick shower, tequila time.

    Suns back

    Trout time

    Walk out to the sunset

    Never seen this before
I might be allergic, but I'll try it anyway.

Great photos. The turtle is an Eastern Box turtle. Poor little guy couldn't get over the tracks.

Nice brown. It's good to see the tropical storm remnants didn't force VA Power to generate.

The first pic is titled Smith downstream. We used to paddle a section of the Smith below the lake. Put in at an old steel bridge in Va and took near Eden, NC. The bridge was in the middle of nowhere and the whole upper section was undeveloped. Used to see alot of deer munching on river grass. Started seeing pastures and fields further downstream and garbge in the water close to Eden.

Not yet. Not even sure where it is, but I've heard that name somewhere.

It's near Damascus but my favorite area is in Green Cove. One hell of a stream. You should try it if you get a chance. PM me if I can help. I've fished over there and the South Fork of the Holston above the hatchery for 20 or so years. Well worth the trip.

    great photos.

    Your turtle is a male.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

    Cool pics.
I'm like a duck: calm above the water, and paddling like hell underneath....
