I usually spend about 3 hours doing prep work. Paint time depends on what pattern. This pattern took about 4 hours. That is base paint and camo. This is about the 5th or 6th boat i've done. I'm sure it can be done quicker, but I treat each boat like it is my own.

HS, I did charge for this one. The guy i did this one for is about to bring me a 15ft high tide to do tomorrow. Who knows what after that. Seems like he said he had 3 or 4 boats lined up for me to do. We'll see. I do know one thing. It's alot of work. Thanks for the nice comments fellas!

D's Tees, I just got the stencils in the mail and I'm about to begin working on mine. What type of prep work do you do before painting? Every boat you have posted up on here looks great after you're finished with it.

Me first. I have a 1652 Sea Ark CC, and I have been putting off painting it all summer.

JG, just get it clean. Every nook and cranny. If you have any decals that need to be removed, remove them and the residue. remove anything that doesnt need to be painted. Sand any bare aluminum with 100 grit. If you have any bare aluminum you need to prime it. The colors you use will make the biggest difference. I use #28 DGG from lockstockbarrell.com for the base. For nat gear i use dark brown krylon camo.

How durable are those paints? My factory job has held up pretty well except for the floor which is to be expected.

very durable. i usually put 3 or 4 coats on the high traffic areas just for a little insurance. that includes the floor, deck, and rub rails. main thing is to let it bake for 3 or 4 days before you go beatin' it up.
