Wait until you can double your budget for a scope and then get a entry level Leupold.

In that budget range, I would look at the Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 6-18x50... good scope for the money.

Look at the Nikko Sterlings they are awesome for the money.

Do not get Leupold! I have had 2 and they suck.

I've heard that the Cabelas scopes are actually pretty good in that price range. I just bought a Nikon Buckmaster($300) for my 30-06 and so far I love it. I looked through a lot of scopes, and for the money, none were brighter or clearer.

Whats wrong with the Redfield JW?

I would rather shoot em with that scope than a new high dollar IMO.

Check out SWFA's samplelist. For $150, you won't get much in low light performance. Check out the Weaver Grand Slams or refurbished Nikons at SWFA. Lower end Leupolds (i.e. Rifleman) are junk in low light. Great company to deal with, but unless you get a VX-3, you ain't getting much in low light performance. Save your money. Compare how long it will take you to save an extra $200 to how long you will keep the scope, and I think that you will find that it is foolish to go cheapo on the scope.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.

save another 150-200 bucks and get something off samplelist.com. you can get a good 40mm scope for the 350 range off that site.
