    Default dove field / corn

What is the best time to plant corn for a dove field?

Derrick full moon in April, that is straight from my Pop's and I know you have seen his cornfield.

More important is corn needs LOTS of nitrogen and water. So it is an expensive crop tp grow.

    Bingo, Bingo

I'd say you can hold off till the end of April but during a full moon.

Depends on soil Temps. if it has been warm enough you can but CAUTION----------- You run the risk and that is a HUGE risk of a late frost and then your corn is shot. The april date normally get s you away from the frost risk.

If you are only planting for the doves, why plant corn at all?

Its just going in strips. Will have wheat, millet, corn, and sunflowers.

The later the better. We have lost several corn crops in the last 2 years due to late frost. It is a killer.

For the dove fields/duck impoundments I plant we try to get it in the ground mid april to the first part of may. No later than the second week of may. Rain and soil temps. are your biggest problems in this area.
