from 73 miles out by the CG Friday? 24ft CC. Couldn't tell if it had one or two Yamahas from the video, but it looked like one. Don't they bill for that these days?

Saw that. Looked like one engine. 73 clicks out is a LONG ASSED WAY

Will Sea Tow go that far out?
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

I got towed back to EB from 30 miles out several years ago (23' single CC). The CG relayed messages between me and Boat US. After we were back at the dock, I asked the BUS captain what it would have cost me if I was not a member. He said between 2-3K. Best $200 per year I spend.
I'm surprised the CG would tow someone back in.
I didn't think the CG would pull one either. I imagine the tow services were overwhelmed yesterday with all the fishing traffic. Boatus gold here too. They cover us all the way up to 95 in Lake Marion as well.
I don't go out near as much as most of you, but I thought the CG would tow and/or take responsibility to at least get you back to a certain mileage offshore or until a tow can meet up with you/them. I mean, they're already there. They aren't gonna let you just drift with the current.
I have had in forever but never used it but still carry it just for lake murray. To old to take the ass whipping offshore anymore. Cheap insurance
Gettin old is for pussies! AND MY NEW TRUE people say like Capt. Tom >>>>>>>>>/
"Wow, often imitated but never duplicated. No one can do it like the master. My hat is off to you DRDUCK!"
The CG will try and relay the message to a towing service. If they can't or won't come get you, the CG will. They towed us in from 55 several years ago. As someone stated, CG also stated to us, we ain't just gonna leave ya out here. No they don't charge ya, Biden already does.
The guys on the boat where eager to come get us, it was at sea for their shift or at the dock, they asked for permission from their supervisor and got the go ahead. CG Charleston was only one we could talk to, they relayed to CG Gtown, they towed us back to GT, we put in at LR. Made for a long 24hrs. Brothers boat looks almost identical to that one, but now it sports a Suzuki. Lower unit bearing failure that day.

I just realized who that was, that boat motor is a testimony to Yamaha motors. Think my brother said it had 3000hrs two years ago.. he also knows how to stack the wahoo.

I've had Sea Tow for a few years, hope I never need them but running S. Louisiana there's a huge possibility that one day I'll need them.

My Sea Tow Gold $245/year is unlimited tow mileage (inland lakes and rivers, coastal waters or offshore)
Only limited to their boat's fuel range and their ability to maintain radio communication.
If Sea Tow doesn't have a franchisee in the area (which is rare), they have a list of independents they call for you and reimburse you.
Anything beyond the above the USCG takes over
I just called them Friday for clarification and this was the answer

A lot can happen between the hill and 73 miles- damn that in a little single engine boat!
