Yeah. I just hope they all have survived the rains.

I saw 3 different hens with poults this afternoon, all in the same general area, but not all together. They had 8-12 poults each that ranged from 3 inches tall to 6-8 inches tall. We’ve had at least 3 inches of rain since Sunday, but they seemed to be doing fine.
He ONLY reason u saw poults is because of the rain, prescribed fires don't burn when it rains.
Prescribed fires huh... Mother Nature says "hey y'all, watch this"
"George Washington didn't use his freedom of speech to defeat the British, he shot them."
I have seen 4 hens with poults during the 12"+ we've gotten in the past two weeks.
Not surprising b/c I typically don't see a lot of clutches.
But what was very noticeable after the first 7-10 days of rain were the number of gobblers strutting with hens.
Also, just like last season after the rain started....hens without poults.
I have seen more strutters with hens in the past week than I saw all of the days since the end of the season!
They are and will re-nest it's what they do.....life goes on!

Just saw 3 hens with 14 poults......if they can survive the last 2 weeks worth of rain we've received they are some tough little hombres.
I wish I could breathe life back in him, if I could I'd hunt him again tomorrow. - Ben Rodgers Lee

I'm more worried about dove nests.
Just saw 2 hens with about 18 poults. I'm starting to see poults almost daily now.
Burning eggs is like abortion, so its ok.
Killing poults with rain is just murder.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
I set up pup tents by all of my chufa plots in March to protect the turkeys from the rain.
Is the "shaft" a non scientific name for a Gobbler's love device?? I'm just curious..
One other question, if a hen re-nests late and hatches poults in late June, does that mean that in 2019 we will be short on Super Jakes???
