Tigerbdog, while in your case it's disappointing that there are so many fewer Goldens available for adoption now, it's actually good news overall. Not too many years ago there were so many "backyard-bred" Goldens being dropped at shelters and surrendered to rescue groups they were being shipped out of state just to find them homes. FHGRR used to adopt out 12-15 dogs a month!
While there are none shown on the web page, I'll make a contact and see if there are any in their foster system that haven't been promised or advertised yet and let you know.
Good luck in your search, and thanks for looking for a older dog. Of our eight Goldens since '92, seven were adopted, and the ages of six of them ranged from three to twelve years old. All were great indoor pets and companions, with the first two being solid hunters.
