Take the cubed steak and flour it and brown it in a frying pan. Put the cubed steak in a crock pot with one can of cream of onion soup and one can of beef broth.Cook on high for about 6 to 8 hours.Goes good with mashed potatoes.

Are you not making any gravy out of what's left in the frying pan?

That's what I do too... Take the drippings and add a little flour... stir until brown. Add water and sliced onions and bring to boil. Add meat and cook for 90 minutes.

Use a high sided iron frying pan.
Salt and Pepper the meat first
Roll it in flour
Pan fry it(use just enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan), but do not cook it. Just brown the flour.
Cut onions by slicing, then cut the slices in half making stringy onions.
Slice mushrooms.Saulte' the onions and mushrooms in the remaining oil.
Mix leftover flour in a cup of cold water. With heat on medium, put the flour water in slow, stiring hard.As this mixture heats it will thicken.Add more salt and pepper to taste.
Place browned meat in gravy and simmer, the longer the better. But be sure gravy does not get thicker.
Great over rice. Better the next day.
