I hope this guy gets fired. Hopefully he was joking, but that ain't a funny joke, so he needs to be fired anyway. ~ Mergie
Dan Sileo offers 'Canes a bounty to take out an FSU Player
Dan Sileo offers UM players bounty if they take
out FSU player. (November 3, 2013)
Miami-area sports radio host Dan Sileo sent out a shocking message to the Twittersphere, posting a picture of Florida State defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan holding up the “U” symbol and stating he would pay $1,000 to any Miami “PLAYER to TAKES THIS KID OUT [sic].”
Sileo, a former Miami defensive lineman in the 1980s, declared the bounty on his show’s personal Twitter account on Sunday morning. Sileo is part of the 640 Sports lineup on Miami’s AM station.
The station responded to Sileo’s bounty by saying it was “just as shocked and stunned as everyone else by this tweet,” according to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press. The station’s executive producer, Marc Eisenberg, said 640 is "still looking into the situation."
Sileo quickly backtracked on the bounty, responding by writing that he was clearly joking. The original Tweet about Jernigan and paying a Miami player to hurt him in a potential rematch in the ACC Championship Game, was removed.
Sileo has a history of making controversial statements via social media and on the air. In the past, his show was carried in the Tampa and Orlando markets.
