    Default Nissan tiller conversion?

I recently purchased a boat sans motor. Paw-in-law has a 40 Nissan (not sure on the year/model yet, still haven't laid eyes on the motor) on a pontoon that was given to him by a fella that owed him some money. We quickly struck a deal, contigent on me being able to get the parts I need. Problem is, on the pontoon it of course has the steering wheel and I need to convert it to a tiller setup. Anyone have any experience, or by chance done, the conversion and have the handle et al laying around?

And I know I'm stabbing in the dark here, but I won't see the motor until at least Sunday. So I figured I'd throw this out there in the meantime.

    Thanks.

Prolly a long shaft. Good luck with that. I would not even try it.

Doesn't sound promising. I've read a few threads that basically said you have to look at the parts diagrams and simply order each individual part. Apparently they didn't see the need to compile a "kit" to accomplish this. Found a Nissan Marine dealer close I'll be consulting on Monday.

Best bet is to look on EBay for one that has been taken off. Also like already said, its probably a long shaft.

Yeah, it's long shaft. But that what's I need for the 21" transom on the hull.

1998 Tater. Clean title, haven't run it yet. Far as I know, it runs great. Same thing as tohatsu. What year is yours?

sounds like you might be on the water sooner than you thought

After more than a month of searching I finally found a tiller setup for the 40 Nissan.... in friggin England. Somehow a bloke at a marine there had like 9 of these guys. With any luck I may have the Xpress on the water by the duck run, although it's unlikely that I'll be able to make it due to work.

I'll get pics of some of the work I've been doing to the boat posted ASAP.

I told you how to do it the easy breezy way.....don't make this harder than it needs to be.

Did you come across any for a 2 stroke 25 Nissan? I have to convert one myself.
