    Another thing that most people don't do when mounting the scope is to get the reticle level with the rifle. If the scope is canted, it will screw up your shooting at long range. A guy on Benchrest.com showed me a real easy way to do this. All you need is two small string levels, a small flat (not bent or warped)ruler and a rest of some sorts to hold the rifle level.

    First put the rifle in the rest and level it from front to back. Make sure that it is secure, then lay the small ruler across the flats of the rifle mounts and adjust the rifle so that the level on the ruler is in the bubble. Then place the scope in the rings and adjust fore and aft, then place the other string level on the turrent cap and make the two levels jive. Gently tighten the rings while checking to make sure the levels don't get out of sync.
    If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.
