    Default Feeder question

If you were setting a feeder for hogs and wanted to be semi conservative with the corn how many seconds a day would you let the feeder run?

Out of a feeder set at 10 secs a day how long roughly will 50# of corn last?

Kind of new to this hog hunting thing, we have been over run by them on our club the last 5-6 yrs but they are so random to when they pop up it is hard to hunt them. Naturally we get LOT of trail cam pics of them when it is dark

If you put up a feeder how well do they respond to it when it comes on

I have been told if you have it come on the same time every day they will pattern themselves to it enough where you can hunt it and count on seeing them

My feeder will throw approximately 2lbs on 10 seconds. So Catdaddy is right

Catdaddy, about how long does it take them to realize that feeder going off is a dinner bell? I put one in the swamp at the club back at the end of November and the hogs are having to clean up after the deer are done. Damn deer won't come to one near the permanent stands but were on the swamp feeder within a couple of weeks.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Hogs follow their noses when eating. Set out some sour corn around the feeder and that will help keep them in the area and keep the deer off of it. Also there is a good recipe on here for baiting them.

Thanks for the feeder info, I figured you would know Cat.

I have soured corn, I don't want to feed the deer if I can help it! Plus I don't want to buy a whole bunch of corn either, dang stuff's like gold round here.

Hogs are scared to death of the feeder motor going off. I have only seen 1 sow that would stand to the side and run in. Most will run and not come back.

They normally pattern the corn/feeder to come in 30 minutes after going off. Little ones are the exception, they will be there in 5 minutes.

We set our feeders as late as possible to avoid turkeys and deer eating the corn.

Hang those feeders as high as you can. 20-30 feet off the ground does wonders.
