Crazy Canada trip this year. The mallards were feeding on grass shrimp, instead of grain, which is a behavior that we had never encountered. You would see 200 greenheads in a small grassy 1/8th acre mudhole, imitating gadwall. They would literally be puking them up when the dogs brought them back. Not sure what this means, but it was over when this cold front swooped in, snowed, and froze up all of the potholes, sending the ducks to the barren dry lands South of the border. We had a great trip and hammered them as usual, just in a different way than we usually hunt. Thousands of miles of scouting between us, paid off. One of our crew got very lucky on his last hunt of the trip...
