Redbellied Water Snakes have a solid red underbelly, not bands like that. That looks like a mudsnake.

Saw one not long ago that was very red. Was kinda cool looking. I thought it was fake until it decided to leave.

A non-venomous rodent, pest eating, vermin controlling beneficial one, that was killed because of fear.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Farancia abacura. Mud snake. Non-venomous and almost entirely aquatic, hence the rudderlike tail. They eat crayfish. And they are seldom seen because they are almost always under water. Herpers are always excited to find one.

Beautiful glossy black with gorgeous red belly and highlights. The only thing prettier is its cousin the rainbow snake.

They subsist almost entirely on sirens and other aquatic amphibians. Really cool snakes
