    Guys...the ball is rolling.

The Flyway Foundation is diligently studying band returns for NC, SC, VA, and GA to locate "areas of interest" to our migratory waterfowl. You have heard us mention Linesville, PA which is in the NW corner of that state. Directly across Lake Erie, we get a numerically significant amount of band returns. So, we have moved forward in our quest to partner with these areas to erect our hen houses, once our design is complete. We are talking about HUNDREDS, even thousands of nesting structures in an attempt to return to the glory days of migratory SC waterfowl.

One of our most interesting locales is Long Point.

Peruse the Bird Studies Canada webpage and look at all the studies they are currently undertaking at Long Point. Keep checking, because some day soon, you will see a study on the use and effectiveness of the 100s of nesting structures the Flyway Foundation plans to send their way. Without partnering with concerned individuals and groups like Long Point, Delta, and DU, we wouldn't be able to take on such an enormous project.

Tell your friends to tell their friends....the game is on!! Keep the donations coming....these things ain't cheap!

That's great news 2th. Dr. Scott Petrie is well known and respected in the waterfowl world.

A partnership with the him and the Long Pointe Waterfowl Research group is a home run for us in SC. The Southern Ontario area is very important for SC wintering mallards.

    Good job.

Their scaup tracking is very interesting to watch. Will be fun to see where they end up. Looks like they also banded ringers, red heads and cans as well.

no kidding. its neat to see the migration of these ducks we chase. they go through a lot from day to day.

if you guys haven't checked out the Long Point website...you need to.

here is a little piece of their website:
    Our Mission

The Long Point Waterfowl and Wetlands Research Fund (LPWWRF) is a non-profit, non-government organization dedicated to the study and conservation of waterfowl and wetlands at Long Point and throughout the lower Great Lakes.

The primary purpose of LPWWRF is to study the staging ecology and requirements of waterfowl on the lower Great Lakes. We also monitor trends in the distribution and abundance of waterfowl, perform research on waterfowl habitats, and generate information useful for management purposes.

By making the results of our work available to the public and scientific community, we are a strong voice for conservation and we make a substantial contribution to the science of waterfowl and wetland ecology. LPWWRF is also committed to providing hands-on opportunities for young wildlife technicians, biologists and scientists, as well as to increasing public awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy wetlands and sustainable waterfowl populations.Establishment, Structure and Support for LPWWRF
