Yeah, but...but...but...if I stop blaming the dog, I wont have anyone else to blame but myself and I am as pure as the driven snow...

Whats scary is I keep a log since one of these boats runs about everyday. I don't do the math anymore but its what we do. If you can't enjoy something why work for it.
Still scary the amount of fuel we burn in a year. Cut waaaaaaaaaaay back the last 2 years.

Speaking of that dog...that dog and I walked a head of woods to flush a rabbit the weekend.

All of a sudden, I notice that dog isnt walking at heel any more. As I stop to see WTF, a woodcock busts up from under my feet. I look back, and that dog is locked up solid as a rock.

I considered it a fluke and went to chase said woodcock again to test him.

He was birdy as hell getting close, and I will be damned if that dog didnt lock up again 10' from where I flushed the bird a second time.

Work is paying off...I wish I had worked more on pointing than retrieving when he was younger but, I digress.

You have my digits. I am all about it. Lets go.

On a related note, I and guests killed 23 woodcock this year, in spite of my dog running 60 yds out and busting through any and everything at 90mph.

I pray for those timberdoodles if they are back next year and the goat is at full pointing speed.

I have compared the cost of a trip offshore/crappie fishing/deer hunting to the amount of food put in the freezer and it is depressing.

I let my wife add it up, so she can bitch about it. I figure that my marriage is going good with the time I spend in the woods. Could be worse hobbies. All things cost money, hell just to keep my pool going in the backyard from April - Oct its over $100.00 a month, are my kids happy, yep.
